What is DSL High-Speed Internet?

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a technology that allows the transmission of information (voice, video and data) over existing copper telephone lines at incredible speeds.  With DSL High-Speed, you're always connected. This means there's no dialing up or busy signals.

DSL High-Speed Internet does have some restrictions. Pre-qualify your line, or contact Iowa Telecom toll free by dialing 611 from any telephone with service from Iowa Telecom, or 1-866-375-4692.

Recommended DSL System Requirements

Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher; Macintosh OS X or higher

  • Macintosh OS X is the only operating system supported by Apple. Older versions of the Macintosh software will work but contain old versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook Express that are no longer supported.

PC Processors

  • Pentium II 233 MHz or higher and AMD Duron or higher

One Network Interface Card (NIC) must be available

20 MB of free hard-drive space recommended

  • Computers with less free space could have issues with e-mail, picture movement, loading of updates, and other software programs.

All Windows updates should be completed

  • Anti-virus and Spy-ware protection on PC machines are highly recommended.
Equipment Needed

DSL service requires the use of a specialized modem.  For as low as $5.99 a month, you can rent a DSL kit from Iowa Telecom that will include everything you need to get your DSL service set up.

Local Area Network

DSL High-Speed Internet will work with a local area network. However, Iowa Telecom does not support, configure or design the network itself.

Pre-qualify your line if you are interested in Iowa Telecom's DSL High-Speed Internet service.
